Help me choose the correct camera for my vehicle
Firstly, is your vehicle 12 or 24V?
If it is 24V there is only one option available and that is to purchase
one of my 12/24V kits unless you have a 12V power source in your
vehicle, in which case as long as you use this source for both monitor
and camera then one of my standard kits will be fine.
CCD or CMOS?
Well it depends on whether you want the best and are prepared to pay a
little extra for great night vision and a wider angle. CCD gives a far
greater picture in both day and night. We'd definitely always
recommend spending the small amount extra to give a much better picture.
Is it a car or van/motorhome?
A car would be better off having a discreet camera suchas a bumper
camera or number plate camera. Our bumper cameras come with their own
hole saw's to help installation and fit in the bumpers skirting and
make a nice flat surface. See below for picture of a CAM9 installed in
one of my vehicles (the other cmos cameras would look similar).
Our number plate cameras are designed primarily for people that don't
want to risk drilling a hole in their bumper and would prefer a camera
that they could take with them when changing cars. Check your vehicle
for an overhang over the number plate. This usually contains the
lights that shine down over your number plate at night time. Most
customers take the wires up through the same path as the number plate
lights wiring. See below for a picture of our number plate cameras.
If you are a van or motorhome owner you may decide that a bracket or
dome camera is the best way to go, the cameras allow you to have a
birdseye view of the rear of your vehicle. See below for some pictures
of our various bracket and dome cameras.

In your item description pages it gives an option of cable lngths, how long do I need my cables to be?
Well firstly how long is your vehicle and do you want it on all the time or just when reversing. Many people over estimate the length of their vehicle and select 20M cables. Well this is 60ft long! Which is about 4 times the length of a large Mercedes Saloon. Most motorhome and van owners would cope with a 10M length cable which is 30ft long, most car owners would cope with a 5M cable or 15ft long. If you wanted on all the time then please select the same length power cable as video cable so this can be connected up front to the same source of power as the monitor. If you only want on when reversing, select only enough power cable to reach your reversing light wire as this will provide the power for the camera
.
