About the wireless reversing and rear view camera kit with 7 inch mirror monitor and black twin bracket camera
Two Cameras In One Bracket - The twin lens reversing camera is actually two individual cameras that mount to the same painted stainless steel bracket.
Narrow-Angle for Rear View + Wide Angle for Parking - Different lens angles for different functions. The narrow-angle lens is suited for always-on rear view driving cameras - as the distance perception is less distorted than a wider angle lens. The 8mm fitted long-distance lens performs brilliantly when monitoring traffic driving behind your vehicle. The wide-angle lens in the downward-facing reversing camera works brilliantly to give a big spread behind to allow you to see hazards.
Anti-Rust Stainless Steel Bracket - We have been using stainless steel brackets on most of our bracket cameras since the early 2010's. Ever since the upgrade we have never had a customer request a new bracket to replace a rusty one. With non-stainless steel people sometimes see rusting occur within as little as 2 weeks. We believe you shouldn't have to suffer unattractive rusty brackets on the back of your vehicle, with the associated orange streaks running down.
Always On Functionality and Safety - The twin/dual lens cameras are designed to be on for the entire journey, improving your visibility/safety 100% of the journey vs the 1 or 2% of the time you are in reverse.
Digital Wireless Reliable 60M Range Signal - The digital wireless boxes supplied in this kit are time-tested to provide a reliable, secure connection between the front and rear of your vehicle. The rule of thumb with wireless is to choose double the length of your outfit, so for instance if you have a 5M car and an 8M caravan you would want to choose at least a 26M range system. When comparing ours against others saying they have hundreds of meters range, bare in mind that some sellers/factories just put large numbers without the performance to back it up.
Sony 700tvl CCD Image Sensors - The Sony 811 960H 700tvl Image Sensors fitted to BOTH cameras provide a high-resolution image with excellent colour replication in the day and good night vision in the dark.
Night Vision IR LED's - The cameras have IR LED's fitted to allow the camera to see in the dark. No need to worry about this disturbing following vehicles since the Infra Red Light they emit is below the visible spectrum of the human eye. This means you get a great night vision image on your display and people behind you don't suffer any glare from a light.
IP68 Waterproof - These cameras are rated at IP68, which means they are protected against the very worst of the Great British weather.
Small Entry Hole Size Disconnect Points (Optional to Remove when Ordering) - As standard we will provide the camera with small 8mm disconnect points to allow for smaller hole size for cable entry. These smaller disconnects aren't waterproof, so if you can't get them inside the body of your vehicle within 30cm please select the non-8mm version option above.
Changes Channel when Reverse Gear is selected (link to reverse light required) - The wireless transmitter box has two inputs but will only send one camera signal at a time. Changing channel occurs by connecting the green trigger wire on the sender to a reverse light feed. When this receives a +positive voltage, it will change to channel 2 (reverse camera), when no voltage is present it returns to channel 1 (rear view camera).
Two Year Guarantee - All parts in this kit are guaranteed to be free from defect for two years. After this time we are usually able to provide low cost spares and possible monitor repairs.
Optional Extension Cables - This allows you to position either the sender box, or the receiver box in a more convenient location.
Digital Wireless Vs Older Analogue Wireless
This wireless reversing camera kit uses digital wireless technology, which is significantly better than the older analogue wireless (which is somehow still about today). Below is some information about the differences:
Wireless reversing camera systems are still carrying a bad reputation, due to the original analogue technology. This older technology was so bad that we only stocked links that we marketed to cross the gap from the gas locker of a caravan, to a car boot.
The older analogue models were restricted in the UK and European market to just 10mW of power due to the "dirty" signals they produced. This would have interrupted other networks had they allowed a stronger signal. The new digital wireless technology uses 10 times this, transmitting at 100mW.
The older analogue wireless used to provide plenty of static interference to the picture, and we would hear many stories of people driving along, only to suddenly see the view from someone's CCTV camera, and even the odd horse - whilst passing a horse box trailer. The new digital wireless technology never has any static, or picture from elsewhere. The transmitter and receiver pair together and use encryption, to ensure that the receiver ignores any other interference that is present.
Who Should use Wireless?
We recommend using wireless reversing camera kits for trailers and caravans. This makes fitting easier, as you don't have to install cables and a trailer link.
If you have a modern car, van, or motorhome, then we recommend using a cabled reversing camera kit instead. This is because these modern vehicles don't often have non-canbus ignition switched power supplies to tap off. On caravans/trailers it is not an issue to tap off things like side lights to power the sender/camera as the car doesn't run canbus checks on trailer lights.
Image Sensor for Camera
An image sensor is the part of the camera that detects and captures information to make an image, there are various sizes of sensor usually between 1/4" and 1/3" with the larger sensors able to capture more detail. In the old days, you used to have to pick CCD for quality as CMOS wasn't as good, this has changed recently with some advancements in CMOS technology (there are varying quality levels of CMOS to confuse matters). In this particular kit, we are using the Sony 1/3" CCD 700TVL image sensor inside the camera. We consider this the joint best image sensor in terms of picture quality you can get on a reversing camera.
Anti-Corrosion Stainless Steel Camera Bracket
The camera has a stainless steel bracket, which is shown to last a very long time without corrosion unlike mild steel we have seen from most other retailers, which tends to rust in a matter of a few months.
Monitor has Digital LCD Panel - Not Standard LCD
The monitor uses a Hi-Res digital panel screen with more than 3 times the amount of pixels of the standard analogue LCD screens most other retailers sell. (Please note some sellers multiply the first number by 3 for RGB, if we were to do that it sounds even more impressive (2400x480). We prefer to keep it simple but check carefully our competitors, the last number is normally better to go by as this is the number of vertical lines of pixels.
2 Year Guarantee
We supply with a 2 year Guarantee with us, meaning we will repair or replace any non-user damaged parts that are deemed faulty. Our failure rate is very low even beyond these two years, if you have a problem outside of 2 years we should still have compatible parts and possible repairs for reasonable amounts.
Parts Tested in the UK
The parts of this kit will have been tested twice, once by the factory and once by us. We check all the items in the kit including all wiring, digital links, trigger wires, IR leds and menu functions to reduce any chance of having a non working part. Our fault rate is extremely low, and we just like to ensure that we avoid any imperfection slipping past. This is why professional fitters love us.
