Description

About the wireless reversing camera kit with 7 inch mirror monitor and flush fitting bumper camera

  • This kit is supplied with a flush fitting bumper reverse camera.  A 28mm hole saw is supplied, the camera then fits in to the drilled hole, and a securing ring is then tightened along the threaded body of the camera.
  • The mirror monitor will clip over your existing interior mirror, and is easy to add/remove. Includes a disconnect point approx 1ft from the monitor - should you wish to remove the monitor but keep the wiring in place.
  • The camera is fitted with a very respected Sony image sensor (choice of Sony CCD or Sony Starvis CMOS) to provide a good picture day and night.
  • This kit uses digital wireless technology to give a long distance, static free picture.
  • Ideal for use on caravans and trailers, where running cables could prove tricky.
  • The monitor has two inputs.  One is used by the receiver box, leaving a spare channel input to add a second camera.
  • Just one power connection is required to the monitor wiring – this will power both monitor and receiver box.
  • Just one power connection is required to the sender box – this will power both itself, and the camera.
  • Extension cables may be added.  This allows you to position either the sender box, or the receiver box in a more convenient location.

Digital Wireless Vs Older Analogue Wireless

This wireless reversing camera kit uses digital wireless technology, which is significantly better than the older analogue wireless (which is somehow still about today).  Below is some information about the differences:

  • Wireless reversing camera systems are still carrying a bad reputation, due to the original analogue technology.  This older technology was so bad that we only stocked links that we marketed to cross the gap from the gas locker of a caravan, to a car boot.
  • The older analogue models were restricted in the UK and European market to just 10mW of power due to the "dirty" signals they produced.  This would have interrupted other networks had they allowed a stronger signal.  The new digital wireless technology uses 10 times this, transmitting at 100mW.
  • The older analogue wireless used to provide plenty of static interference to the picture, and we would hear many stories of people driving along, only to suddenly see the view from someone's CCTV camera, and even the odd horse - whilst passing a horse box trailer.  The new digital wireless technology never has any static, or picture from elsewhere.  The transmitter and receiver pair together and use encryption, to ensure that the receiver ignores any other interference that is present.

Who Should use Wireless?

We recommend using wireless reversing camera kits for trailers and caravans. This makes fitting easier, as you don't have to install cables and a trailer link.

If you have a modern car, van, or motorhome, then we recommend using a cabled reversing camera kit instead. This is because these modern vehicles don't often have non-canbus ignition switched power supplies to tap off. On caravans/trailers it is not an issue to tap off things like side lights to power the sender/camera as the car doesn't run canbus checks on trailer lights.

Image Sensor for Camera

An image sensor is the part of the camera that detects and captures information to make an image.  You have two choices (selectable using the drop down box).  The Sony CCD image sensor is coupled with a 90 degree lens, whilst the Sony CMOS image sensor is coupled with an even wider angle 120 degree lens.

Monitor has Digital LCD Panel - Not Standard LCD

The monitor uses a Hi-Res digital panel screen with more than 3 times the amount of pixels of the standard analogue LCD screens most other retailers sell.   (Please note some sellers multiply the first number by 3 for RGB, if we were to do that it sounds even more impressive (2400x480).  We prefer to keep it simple but check carefully our competitors, the last number is normally better to go by as this is the number of vertical lines of pixels.

2 Year Guarantee

We supply with a 2 year Guarantee with us, meaning we will repair or replace any non-user damaged parts that are deemed faulty.  Our failure rate is very low even beyond these two years, if you have a problem outside of 2 years we should still have compatible parts and possible repairs for reasonable amounts.

Parts Tested in the UK

The parts of this kit will have been tested twice, once by the factory and once by us.  We check all the items in the kit including all wiring, digital links, trigger wires, IR leds and menu functions to reduce any chance of having a non working part.  Our fault rate is extremely low, and we just like to ensure that we avoid any imperfection slipping past.  This is why professional fitters love us.

FAQ'S

Absolutely!  The majority of people set it up this way.  Our main customers for wireless kits are caravan owners.  As a previous caravan owner myself, I found using one of our digital wireless kits made driving whilst towing so much easier.  The camera gave me confidence when changing lanes, allowed me to be aware of drivers "tucked in" behind me, and allowed me to reverse back with ease when taking wrong turns.

We have yet to be defeated by a rig that has been too big for our digital wireless systems.  We used to use a 40M system previously, and this was more than capable, our base level uses 60M spec chips, which is ample.

If the camera is being fitted to either a trailer or caravan then most people will use running/side lights, or a fridge supply.  If the vehicle fitting to is a motorhome, then you would need to locate a non-canbus power supply that switches off when the ignition is off.
