Description

We were frequently getting asked for a reversing camera cable splitter cable to allow one feed to go to 2x monitors, or 1x monitor and 1x MDVR. This cable achieves this.

We have designed the cable so that only one device provides power to the camera.  You therefore must choose which monitor/DVR will be responsible for powering the camera and place the cable labelled "power out" to this device.  This is important because having two devices powering for one camera can lead to issues, this is due to having 2 different voltages.

You may ask why would you want to split the signal between a monitor and MDVR. Why not just have the reversing camera going to the MDVR, then use the output from the MDVR to the monitor? Well, that is an interesting question. The reason why you will probably want to split the signal instead is because the output from MDVR tends to be CVBS video signal, whereas you may be inputting an AHD high definition reversing camera. This means you've lost quite a lot of image quality, not to mention the CVBS output is usually through a multiplexer which again decreases the picture quality. The splitter cable allows you to enjoy the full high definition experience on your monitor, whilst also recording at the full definition on your MDVR.

We haven't seen issues yet when splitting the signal, however out of an abundance of precaution we advise that it is a possibility - especially over long runs/trailer links where resistance is higher.
