Description

About the Black Bracket Reversing Camera Kit with 5-inch Display

  • Universal Black Reversing Camera Kit - If you check the dimensions images and you have the space to install then this will fit any 12V or 24V vehicle.
  • Full-Colour High-Resolution Image - The combination of the high-resolution digital panel LCD 5-inch display and the high-resolution 700tvl Sony CCD image sensor gives you a lovely, clear, and colourful picture.
  • Sony CCD Image Sensor - The image sensor is the part of the camera that captures detail, making it one of the most important aspects of producing a high-quality image. We consider the Sony 811 1/3" CCD image sensor fitted to this camera to be one of the best available (not to be confused with the earlier Sony CCD 420-480tvl models or 1/4" models).
  • Anti-Rust Stainless Steel Camera Bracket - We learnt very early on that mild steel brackets had a problem when it came to rusting. The reverse camera supplied in this kit has a stainless steel bracket that has been painted an attractive matt finish black. This keeps the camera secure and looking good.
  • Choose Wide Angle (Parking) or Narrow Angle (Rear View/Driving) - When ordering, you can choose either a wide-angle lens (120°) OR a narrow-angle lens (60°). If you plan to use the camera for reverse parking, please ensure the 120° option is selected to give you the maximum visibility all around the rear of your vehicle. If you plan to use the camera as a rear view to see traffic following behind the 60° option is usually best for distance perception.
  • Heavy Duty Monitor - This monitor has durable build quality. It is produced for us by a trusted factory with a very low fault rate. Many agricultural customers use this particular monitor as it can cope with the hard life in the fields. The side mounting U-bracket adds to this durability.
  • Two-Year Guarantee - We guarantee this kit to be free from factory defects for a period of 2 years. After this period, we will endeavour to support you with spare parts, e.g., wiring harnesses, cameras, cables, remotes, brackets, etc., as well as offering low-cost out-of-guarantee repairs on the monitor where possible.
  • IP68 Waterproof - This camera is rated to IP68, a high rating that will easily cope with the strongest torrential downpours you may experience with the great British summer weather.

    Add an additional monitor bracket/mount

We can supply a discounted additional mount/bracket for the monitor when ordered at the same time as the kit.  Please see the photo below, and make your selection using the drop down menu above the add to cart button.

    Choice of kit power options

    • On the monitor wiring harness is a 2.1mm DC socket. On the drop down menu of this product, you can select your desired power lead to plug in to this.
    • The standard hardwiring is supplied with all options, this terminates in a red wire (+12V/+24V), and black wire (earth).
    • For the ultimate quick install is a lighter plug option. Some people also order this just for the initial setup, before changing to the standard hardwiring/fuse tap.
    • Fuse taps aka piggyback fuse holders, are the most recent addition to our options. This allows you to "piggyback" off an existing circuit from your fuse box. The most common size fuse found in modern vehicles is the mini blade (size = 10.9mm wide x 16.4mm tall), older vehicles are likely to have the standard blade (size = 19.1mm wide x 18.8mm tall). Download and read our Fuse Tap installation instructions PDF for more information.
    • Our fuse taps were designed by us, they have a 200cm lead that connects directly to the monitor socket with no soldering / crimping required. There is a black wire with an earth terminal attached - designed to fix to a chassis bolt/screw.  This earth wire/terminal can be separated away from the red wire to enable you to find the most convenient ground/earth (although often this is next to the fuse box).

    Easy-Fit Wiring

    • We have been using this type of cabling since 2007, and it has performed perfectly in all of this time. It is called the 4 pin aviation cable, and uses what is known as a 4 pin GX12 connector.
    • This type of connector is very durable, and can be kept outside exposed to rain and freezing temperatures.
    • It makes fitting easier, and avoids CANBUS issues due to the monitor powering the camera.
    • It keeps contacts clean and dry, plus prevents them from accidental separation.
    • It has become the industry standard connector, which means you aren't forced to buy future cameras/cables/upgrades from one retailer - as parts are interchangeable between numerous suppliers (although we are confident you will be impressed enough with us that you will choose us for any future upgrades/spare parts).
    • All of our aviation extension cables are high quality, with the inner cores consisting of pure copper. We do not use the cheaper CCA (Copper Coated Aluminium) or CCS (Copper Coated Steel) cables, because they are more prone to failure/degradation over time.

    Image Sensor for Camera

An image sensor is the part of the camera that detects and captures information to make an image, there are various sizes of sensor usually between 1/4" and 1/3" with the larger sensors able to capture more detail.  In the old days, you used to have to pick CCD for quality as CMOS wasn't as good, this has changed recently with some advancements in CMOS technology (there are varying quality levels of CMOS to confuse matters).  In this particular kit, we are using the Sony 1/3" CCD 700TVL image sensor inside the camera.  We consider this the joint best image sensor in terms of picture quality you can get on a reversing camera.

    Anti-Corrosion Stainless Steel Camera Bracket

The camera has a stainless steel bracket, which is shown to last a very long time without corrosion unlike mild steel we have seen from most other retailers, which tends to rust in a matter of a few months.

Monitor has Digital LCD Panel - Not Standard LCD

The monitor uses a Hi-Res digital panel screen with more than 3 times the amount of pixels of the standard analogue LCD screens most other retailers sell.   (Please note some sellers multiply the first number by 3 for RGB, if we were to do that it sounds even more impressive (2400x480).  We prefer to keep it simple but check carefully our competitors, the last number is normally better to go by as this is the number of vertical lines of pixels.

    System Suitability

Our systems work on either 12V or 24V, no switches it will adjust to the voltage automatically, this also protects the kit from any surges from the vehicle upto 32V, which is why we have such a good reliability record from these voltage protected kits.

    2 Year Guarantee

We supply with a 2 year Guarantee with us, meaning we will repair or replace any non-user damaged parts that are deemed faulty.  Our failure rate is very low even beyond these two years, if you have a problem outside of 2 years we should still have compatible parts and possible repairs for reasonable amounts.

    Parts Tested in the UK

The parts of this kit will have been tested twice, once by the factory and once by us.  We check all the items in the kit including all cables, trigger wires, IR leds and menu functions to reduce any chance of having a non working part.  Our fault rate is extremely low, and we just like to ensure that we avoid any imperfection slipping past.  This is why professional fitters love us.

    FAQ'S

Yes you can, the monitor powers the camera, this means you can choose to watch the camera at any point, you can drive with it "always on".

Our easy wire fuse tap options are new for 2023.  We designed a fuse tap that plugs in to a socket that is present on all of our monitor wiring harnesses.  The other side has a "piggyback" fuse holder aka fuse tap.  You identify a fuse in the fuse box that comes on/off with the ignition (see piggyback fuse holder / fuse tap instructions here - PDF download).  The original fuse is placed in to the new fuse tap, plus there is a new fuse already present for the reverse camera kit.  On the same wiring there is an earth terminal connector, simply attach this to a chassis bolt (usually near the fuse box, or add your own).

    Rough guide:

    • 5M is good for an average size car
    • 7.5M is good for large cars and shorter wheelbase vans
    • 10M is good for a medium length van (around 6M)
    • 12.5M is good for most vehicles up to around 8.5M long (covers most motorhomes except the super long)
    • 15M is good for vehicles up to around 10/11M eg rigid lorry, small coach.
    • 20M is good for super long vehicles
