Description

About the 7 inch dash monitor and black twin lens bracket reversing camera kit

  • This reversing camera kit comes with a heavy duty surface mounted monitor display, fitted with a 7" LCD panel. This monitor comes with a "U shape" dashboard mounting bracket that fits to the side mounting points. It also has a rear channel to fit our other mounting brackets.
  • Comes with a twin lens bracket camera, which houses both a 120° reversing camera for parking, and a 45°rear view camera for driving.
  • Choice of two top specification image sensors - either Sony CCD or Sony 1080P AHD (see more about the upgrade option further down).
  • The camera is fitted with a stainless steel bracket, which has proven itself to protect against rust.
  • Easy to install, with a range of power options. Just one power connection powers the system.
  • 2 Year Guarantee and Lifetime Support from the leading UK specialists.

Upgrade Option - Sony CCD vs Sony AHD 1080P

  • Recent option, introduced in early 2022
  • AHD stands for Analogue High Definition - allows long analogue coax cables to be used to transmit high definition digital signal
  • Increases monitor display resolution by 60% with an IPS panel upgrade
  • Both cameras use an improved Sony 1080P AHD image sensor
  • You will experience improved dynamic range, more vivid colours, and superior low light level performance
  • Please note that AHD systems take a little longer to change channels/load up (approx. 2 seconds) vs standard CVBS systems.

Rest assured that whichever option you select, you will have a lovely, good quality image!

See our AHD (Analogue High Definition) FAQ page for more info

Please take note of an important update for 2024. Our latest production of AHD option cameras includes a change – specifically, the driving rear-view camera in the recent batch is now being manufactured without IR LEDs, while the parking camera will continue to have IR LEDs. This modification is a response to customer feedback regarding the sensitivity of the Sony Starvis sensors used in the AHD cameras. Some customers found that the camera's enhanced brightness as the IR lit up nearby trees and bushes, made the image a bit bright when driving at night in a dark cabin. Following road tests, we concluded that eliminating IR LEDs from the rear-facing camera provides a better balance of functionality. When ordering the AHD upgrade kit, you may receive either the original type (with IR LEDs) or the new batch (without IR LEDs) on the rear-view camera. If you have a preference for a specific version, please leave us a customer note when placing your order.

Choice of kit power options

  • On the monitor wiring harness is a 2.1mm DC socket. On the drop down menu of this product, you can select your desired power lead to plug in to this.
  • The standard hardwiring is supplied with all options, this terminates in a red wire (+12V/+24V), and black wire (earth).
  • For the ultimate quick install is a lighter plug option. Some people also order this just for the initial setup, before changing to the standard hardwiring/fuse tap.
  • Fuse taps aka piggyback fuse holders, are the most recent addition to our options. This allows you to "piggyback" off an existing circuit from your fuse box. The most common size fuse found in modern vehicles is the mini blade (size = 10.9mm wide x 16.4mm tall), older vehicles are likely to have the standard blade (size = 19.1mm wide x 18.8mm tall). Download and read our Fuse Tap installation instructions PDF for more information.
  • Our fuse taps were designed by us, they have a 200cm lead that connects directly to the monitor socket with no soldering / crimping required. There is a black wire with an earth terminal attached - designed to fix to a chassis bolt/screw.  This earth wire/terminal can be separated away from the red wire to enable you to find the most convenient ground/earth (although often this is next to the fuse box).

Easy-Fit Wiring

  • We have been using this type of cabling since 2007, and it has performed perfectly in all of this time. It is called the 4 pin aviation cable, and uses what is known as a 4 pin GX12 connector.
  • This type of connector is very durable, and can be kept outside exposed to rain and freezing temperatures.
  • It makes fitting easier, and avoids CANBUS issues due to the monitor powering the camera.
  • It keeps contacts clean and dry, plus prevents them from accidental separation.
  • It has become the industry standard connector, which means you aren't forced to buy future cameras/cables/upgrades from one retailer - as parts are interchangeable between numerous suppliers (although we are confident you will be impressed enough with us that you will choose us for any future upgrades/spare parts).
  • All of our aviation extension cables are high quality, with the inner cores consisting of pure copper. We do not use the cheaper CCA (Copper Coated Aluminium) or CCS (Copper Coated Steel) cables, because they are more prone to failure/degradation over time.
  • New for 2024 is our updated twin signal cable rated for HD camera signal.

Disconnectable Connectors for smaller cable entry holes

We took the step of adding 8mm disconnect points between the 4 pin connectors and the camera. This allows you to drill smaller cable entry holes instead of the 19mm you would need if using the pre-attached cable rubber Grommet (we still have these grommets inserted for those that prefer to use this method).

Disconnect points for twin lens camera

Please note that the 8mm disconnect point is NOT waterproof and needs to be kept inside to avoid water ingress. It is approximately 30 cm back from the camera. If you cannot ensure the cable will enter the vehicle by this length, please leave us a customer note asking for the non-8mm version (which goes straight to 4 pin and is very waterproof). The customer note box is at the very last stage of checkout.

Anti-Corrosion Stainless Steel Camera Bracket

The camera has a stainless steel bracket, which is shown to last a very long time without corrosion unlike mild steel we have seen from most other retailers, which tends to rust in a matter of a few months.

2 Year Guarantee

We supply with a 2 year Guarantee with us, meaning we will repair or replace any non-user damaged parts that are deemed faulty.  Our failure rate is very low even beyond these two years, if you have a problem outside of 2 years we should still have compatible parts and possible repairs for reasonable amounts.

Parts Tested in the UK

The parts of this kit will have been tested twice, once by the factory and once by us.  We check all the items in the kit including all cables, trigger wires, IR leds and menu functions to reduce any chance of having a non working part.  Our fault rate is extremely low, and we just like to ensure that we avoid any imperfection slipping past.  This is why professional fitters love us.

FAQ'S

Yes you can, the monitor powers the camera, this means you can choose to watch the camera at any point, you can drive with it "always on".

Our easy wire fuse tap options are new for 2023.  We designed a fuse tap that plugs in to a socket that is present on all of our monitor wiring harnesses.  The other side has a "piggyback" fuse holder aka fuse tap.  You identify a fuse in the fuse box that comes on/off with the ignition (see piggyback fuse holder / fuse tap instructions here - PDF download).  The original fuse is placed in to the new fuse tap, plus there is a new fuse already present for the reverse camera kit.  On the same wiring there is an earth terminal connector, simply attach this to a chassis bolt (usually near the fuse box, or add your own).

Rough guide:

  • 5M is good for a small van
  • 10M is good for a medium length van (around 6M)
  • 10M 8mm joint (same as above but with a small 8mm disconnect point on the front of the cable to allow cable to get through tight spots/bulkheads)
  • 12.5M is good for most vehicles up to around 8.5M long (covers most motorhomes except the super long)
  • 12.5M 8mm joint (same as above but with a small 8mm disconnect point on the front of the cable to allow cable to get through tight spots/bulkheads)
  • 15M is good for vehicles up to around 10/11M eg rigid lorry, small coach.
  • 15M 8mm joint (same as above but with a small 8mm disconnect point on the front of the cable to allow cable to get through tight spots/bulkheads)
  • 20M is good for super long vehicles
Twin reversing camera cable 8mm disconnect point

Yes.  Please select the option at the bottom of the cable length drop down menu.  It will be labelled 2010+ Dometic/Waeco adaptors.  Instead of a long cable, you will receive the twin channel Waeco/Dometic adaptor set. Kindly note that these adaptors will not work with the AHD upgrade option - due to the extra separated shielding requirements required for the two high-frequency 1080P AHD signals.

The standard high resolution camera/monitor is a very nice picture, it gives you everything you need for visibility. The only reason to upgrade to AHD is if you want to see even more detail such as the detail of gravel on the floor, or want the colours of cars etc to "pop" on the screen and be even more vivid. In terms of safety, both are on par with each other.
