About the Compact Polished Stainless Steel Bracket with White Sony AHD Reversing Camera with 4 pin Screw Connector

AHD signal reverse cameras will NOT work with 99% of monitors and car stereos currently in use. This camera requires a special AHD monitor that can read the AHD signal produced by the camera. Ensure your AHD monitor or recorder can handle 1080P AHD inputs.  If you do not have a confirmed AHD monitor, then please purchase instead from our large range of high resolution traditional cameras.

We have stocked a twin lens camera for more than a decade that uses two cameras with a compact 50mm width case. Because we frequently get asked by customers if they can use just the one in a small bracket, and because we like to listen and learn from customers, we decided to get a bracket specially produced to house our large selection of twin lens camera units. The unit fitted to the camera provided in this listing is the 45° narrow angle driving/rear view camera.

  • Bracket reversing cameras such as this one are still the most popular style of camera, especially with motorhomes, caravans, HGV, and vans.
  • The camera bracket is made from corrosion resistant polished stainless steel.
  • The image sensor is made by Sony, it is a 1/2.9" AHD image sensor.  This means you get good day and night picture.
  • Choice of IR LED's fitted or not. See section below to help you choose. As standard we will be sending out the no IR LED's model, as we prefer this ourselves.
  • The rear view camera will send a mirror image to the monitor.  This is essential for cameras pointing backwards, to ensure that the obstacles on your left are displayed to the left of the display - like a mirror does.
  • The camera will cope with whatever the weather can throw at it as it is waterproof to IP68.
  • The rear view camera has approximately 45 degree viewing angle (diagonally measured), this is optimum for a rear view camera to help with distance perception.
  • The camera has a fly lead with a 4 pin screw connector (also known as an aviation connector). This is our preferred type of connector.
  • We have placed a small 8mm disconnect point on the cable from the camera to the 4 pin screw connector (15mm).  This is so you can reduce the hole size drilled for cable entry. This 8mm disconnect must be inside as it is not waterproof like the 4 pin connector is.  If you plan to run the cable externally, please leave us a customer note on the last page of checkout saying "no 8mm disconnect on camera fly lead", and we will send a version that does not have this feature.

Anti-Corrosion Stainless Steel Camera Bracket

The camera has a stainless steel bracket, which is shown to last a very long time without corrosion, unlike mild steel we have seen from most other retailers, which tends to rust in a matter of a few months.

IR LED's Option

This is a new option that has become available in late 2023. Some of the feedback we received on the new AHD image sensors is that at night time the customers would prefer the IR LED's not to come on with the always on rear view camera. This was never a problem with the older technology because the IR LED's were able to be applied gradually as it got darker. With the AHD high definition sensors, they require an IR cut filter to avoid colour change in the day time. This means night vision is either ON or OFF (no in-between). With a rear view camera you are driving past street lights that may at times fool the camera in to entering day mode, then a bit later switches back to night mode. This can be a little distracting at times, which is why we have produced versions of this camera without IR LED's fitted.

With the Sony Starvis IMX307 1080P image sensor used on this camera we find you don't really need the IR LED's when it comes to the driving/rear view camera. IR LED's usually only provide benefit to around 5-10M, which is great for parking, but not so useful for rear view. We have given you the choice with a drop down menu on this listing.

With IR LED

  • Can easily see Bushes/Trees to the side when on very dark roads.
  • Can be distracting when going between street lights on street lit road (as camera goes in/out of night mode.
  • Can be distracting when in night mode (as the sensor is very good at picking up any light source, so can appear slightly more bright in a dark cabin compared to traditional technology cameras).

Without IR LED

  • Can sometimes be harder to see detail of Bushes/Trees to the roadside on very dark roads.
  • Avoids the distraction of night time driving between street lamps (as no night mode to switch in/out of.
  • With the IR LED's not present this camera is able to be a bit less distracting at night time when the cabin is at it's darkest.
